Hello,
I'm looking after a NCCM software to backup heterogeneous network equipements.
Some are CISCO, easy to backup (flat files). But others are appliances, firewalls, IDS, etc... with binary backup files generated usually with a shell command.
How do you backup your network equipments ?
Do you have solutions to advise to me ?
PS: I looking after a unified solution
Thank you,
Regards,

The most common heterogeneous NCCM tool I have seen used is RANCID, an open source project.
The second alternative is SolarWinds NCM, a licensed product.
RANCID is good but requires a bit of Unix savvy to set it up and make it useful (e.g. putting a CVS and search tool onto it).
NCM is out of the box easier to use but you pay for the license and ongoing support.

Hello,
Thanks for your answer. As I know, Rancid doesn't backup binary files, does it ? Does it execute command lines on remote network equipements to do a backup like F5 (tmsh /sys backup /var/tmp/mybackup.ucs) and downloads it via scp ?
For NCM, do you mean Solarwinds NCM ?
