Network Design

Kindly, If anyone could helpme with this network diagram. As I am not a employee of any company but a MSc Telecoms Students therefore, I dont really know the practical environment of networks. I was wondering if anyone could helpme with this NETWORK DESIGN and pinpoint any mistakes in that.

Hi,

One thing that jumps out at me are the way the routers are physically laid out. You have your 'primary' router connected to the pix and to the switches, and the backup router simply connected to the primary router. If the primary router goes down, then the backup router has no connection to the rest of the network.

If the purpose of the router labeled as 'backup' is for router redundancy, then I'd recommend connecting the switches to this router, and connecting this router to the firewall as well.

Single firewall tier with no back end protection.

I would add another FW besides the Perimeter FW.

Add a secondary FW tier to protect databases.
