I have heard rumers that Cisco will be releasing a 48 port 10/100/1000 card for the Cat 6500 in the near future. Does anyone have some info on this card that they could share? I currently have a 6509 in my data center with the 48 port 10/100 cards. I am looking to add gigabit ports for my server farm, but currently, the 6500 series does not have cost effective 1000Tx ports. I am considering changing the 6500 for a Cat 4000 because it already has the 48 port 10/100/1000 card available. Features are not real important for this box, I just need lots of ports. Your help/opinions are appreciated.
How long until it might be released?
Approx list price?
Thanks.

I do not have any info on a 48 port 10/100/1000 for the Cat6k, but there is a 24 port and 48 port available for the cat4k. Keep in mind, each line module is limited to 6 gig to the fabric, so the 48 10/100/1000 will be sharing 6 gig.

We happened to talk to our Cisco rep a few days ago about this very topic. He told us that they were looking at Q1 in 2003. Hope it helps.
