newbie question: how to get model info from cisco via snmp?

I want to judge which type cisco device is . Whether it is IOS or CATOS ? Is it version early 12.0 or later ?

Which OID can I use ?

Try using .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1 (sysDescr)

sysDescr or system will give you the info you need.

thanks for your reply.And I have another question,How can I know which mib the cisco device support? Like this ,some IOS device support CISCO-CONFIG-COPY,and another support OLD-CISCO-SYSTEM-MIB. When I code snmp program to copy cisco running-config to my tftp server,how did I know which OID I can use ? If I can get the device support CISCO-CONFIG-COPY,I can use 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1,else I can use 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55. .

Are there any automatic methods to know devices MIB support ?I mean I want to code program to get devices MIB support infomation. I can't use mib toolkit and MIB locator.

So How can ?
