Below is the error I received on nGenius. Any help would be appreciated.
Wed Feb 18 14:10:58 EST 2004: Protocol write error., Details: device=172.16.32.1; SnmpResponseCommitFailed; SnmpResponseCommitFailed on 172.16.32.1 while performing SnmpSet at index = 0; User: Administrator; 172.16.32.1, Severity: 2, Code: 8009

Is this RTM 1.4 with SP8?. What is the device in question?

This is a new installation of 1.4.0 Build 288. The device is a Catalyst 6509. There are actually 12 6509's responding the same way. None appear to be working

Apply SP8 patch from http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/rtm-14 and then try adding the switch back. Make sure that the SNMP strings are correct and if these are running CatOS, mini-rmon is enabled on the switch first.

I attempted to install SP8 with the following error:

If your RTM is on Solaris, then in order to install SP8, you need to run the setup script from the server's console window or connect from another UNIX box. Seems like you're using some kind of X-app like Reflection, X-Ceed etc?. If this is the case, then it will not work.

This is a headless server, with only a serial console. I have attempted to install this patch using putty (ssh), and Cygwin (remote x server) with the same results. I just attempted to SSH from another Sun box with the same results. Do you want me to use the console port on the server?

I just attempted to install via console port with the same results.

I was not referring to the Console port, but console window instead. Instead of connecting remotely to the server, login on the server itself locally and then tun the install.
