NIC Compatibilty

I am currently investigating a fault for users experencing slow responses.

The users are using Fuijtsu Siemens NIC's, the switch is WS-C6506 Software, Version NmpSW: 6.3(1). If the users insert a hub/other manufactures switch between them and the PC the problem immediatly disapears. I believe this problem maybe to do with a compatability problem between the cisco switch and the NIC as the problem is solved when a device is placed in between.

The switch however shows no problem or errors on the ports.

Are there any known compatability problems between cisco switches and NIC's. Thanks

Re: NIC Compatibilty

There are a lot of vendors like SUN, HP, Compaq and Dell all experiencing NIC problems with the 6500 at the moment.

There is a polarity problem on some of the 48 port cards on every "roughly" seven ports.

Cisco will always claim they stick to standards and thus push it too the NIC vendor, advice is to upgrade drivers and hard code port speeds and duplex setttings.

This Doc should help too
