Looking to get one for a 2600 series router. Could someone point me in the direction of some sample config's etc. I was looking to see how the switch is configured to use the router thru the backplane etc. I'm assuming it's like doing a "session" into an MSFC card on a CAT.

Thanks in advance

It is configured directly through the IOS CLI on the router.

HTH pls rate!

Thanks, but this is just an overview. I'm looking for anything that shows how this is configured via the router CLI

Hi,

Once you plug it in you'll get an additional 16 fast ethernet ports - which are configured in exactly the same way as any layer-3 switch port. There's no session command - all you get is a bunch of extra ports.

In practice, if you configure the interface with the command "no switchport" you can give the interface an IP and it acts just like any other router ethernet port. In default mode (i.e. "switchport") then it's just like a layer-2 switchport, and you assign it to a vlan or make it a trunk, or whatever.

Here's the configuration guide:

Andrew.
