NM-CE1 Configuration

Hi,

Can anybody tell me how to configure the NM-CE1 - channelised E1 module for a channelised E1 leased line. If my 30 differrent locations each on 64k line are talking to this E1 module at the central site on the same serial interface.

How to configure this common interface for 30 differrent locations.

Re: NM-CE1 Configuration

You will have to configure your username statements for PPP Chap and ensure all your IP addressing is OK. Also check your ISDN switch-type. The above if an Australian E1. Most routers can detect the line-code.

Dialer profiles gives you more flexibility but can magnify the config in the core.

There is always more than one way to do it and this is only a few examples:

This is legacy...

1 configure the basics:

isdn switch-type primary-net5

controller E1 1/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31

description "your description"

2 then your interface:

interface Serial1/0:15

description "Another description"

ip address X.X.X.X m.m.m.0 (or use unnumbered)

encapsulation ppp

dialer-group 1

isdn switch-type primary-net5

ppp authentication chap

3 Don't forget this:

dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

This is Dialer profiles:

1 configure the basics:

isdn switch-type primary-net5

controller E1 1/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31

description "your description"

2 then your interface:

interface Serial1/0:15

description "Another description"

encapsulation ppp

dialer pool-member 1

isdn switch-type primary-net5

3 Then your profile:

interface Dialer1

description another description

ip address X.X.X.X m.m.m.0 (or use unnumbered)

encapsulation ppp

dialer pool 1

dialer-group 1

dialer remote-name "remote router name"

dialer max-call 2

ppp authentication chap

ppp multilink

Your remote end again can use profiles or legacy. And again static or un numbered.

Don't forget to route !

Re: NM-CE1 Configuration

Hi Sanjay,

You need to configure the CE1 controller first. It looks like,

Controller E1 Slot/mod

Channel-group 0 timeslot 1

Channel-group 1 timeslot 2

....................

.....................

channel-group 30 timeslot 31

After this configuration, in the sh run output you can see So many Serial interfaces are created; like

Serial Slot/mod:0

Serial Slot/mod:1

.......

......

You can onfigure these serial lines as a normal serial interface. Before configuring get the proper channel allocation details from the service provier.

Cheers,
