Please help. I need to make the alerts sent by DFM more meaningful to management. As at now, it only sends ip addresses of devices but i need to be able to say Switch on 2nd floor and so on. Any ideas howI can do this?
I have set up CiscoWorks to send messages to our mobile phones and email addresses. How do I get it to send host name rather than ip addresses so that it is more meaningful?
Yes the devices were added using their DNS names. When i open up Administrative Console on the DFM, they all come up as DNS names but clicking on them for more details shows the sysname as the ip addresses. Is this what it is picking up?.
There are no DNS entries on our Switches or Routers but they were all entered manually into our DNS Servers.
Also is there a way I can put in an alias after the DNS name like 2ndFlSwitch to give it more discription and for this to show up in the subject line of the email?
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
