No Interfaces enable on msfc on 6509

Problem Description: on initial configuration after setting up the vlans on a cat 6509 the msfc card shows no interfaces

> after entering the command

> (config) int vlan 1

> (config) ip address 10.1.5.1 255.255.255.0

> (config) no shut

> the interface goes into a down/down condition

> the vlan has an active computer attached to it and can ping other computers on the same vlan

Ensure that VLAN 1 is NOT being 'pruned' from module 15/1 (or 16/1 if the sup is in slot2) this would cause symptoms which are similar to what you are experiencing.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by "pruned".? Would I check this from within the router mode. I have a sup in slot one and slot two.

I have disabled VTP Pruning and am still unable to route. Still having a problem with " DOWN/DOWN" status on the vlan 1

Do a show trunk and you may notice that 15/1 is not trunking. Issue the set trunk 15/1 nonegotiate command.
