Is AAA configured on the device ? sometimes the permissions get a little whacky

No special permissions or aliases are configured.

ok, what happens (I'm assuming you can do thiswithout impacting users ) if you copy start to run,

then

do a show run ?

copy star run gives an error writing to system:/running-config

A dir system: doesn't show available space.....memory issue?
