Not getting CPU utilization info for CISCO ASA 5520

Device config is shown as follows in application doing the discovery.

# Cisco ASA 5520

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.670 {

    TYPE = Firewall

    VENDOR = Cisco

    MODEL =  ASA 5520

    CERTIFICATION = CERTIFIED

    CONT = Cisco-Router

    HEALTH = Cisco-Entity

    NEIGHBOR = Cisco-Cdp

INSTRUMENTATION:

    CPU/Memory                          = CiscoSwitch:DeviceID

    Interface-Fault                     = MIB2

    Interface-Performance               = MIB2

    Interface-Ethernet-Performance      = CiscoRouter_Ethernet

}

Cisco ASA version is:   Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Version 8.2(5)13

Per Cisco Support website that this OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5  has been  deprecated

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en

for CPU we need ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.8 "  but snmp walk does not return this value and still shows the old OID ending with 1.5

snippet from the walk file shows:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.4.1|4|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.4.2|4|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5.1|2|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5.2|2|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.3.1.0|2|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.1.1.1.0|0|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.1.2.1.0|0|

.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.1.1.1.2.4|4661696C6F766572204C414E20496E74657266616365|

Is there any new updated agent available for Cisco ASA 5520 that contains the oid  ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.8 "

Not getting CPU utilization info for CISCO ASA 5520

Just to add some strangeness ...

We have an ASA 5585-X SSP10 running 8.4(2) . I did an snmpwalk -v2c -Ofn . The 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5.1 OID was not found in the output.

But, I fed that OID to our Zenoss monitor, and guess what! It works, we are getting an accurate CPU graph that matches what I see in the ASDM!

Preparing Command...

Executing command snmpwalk -cTry2GuessThis -v2c 10.0.0.1    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5.1 against pantsonFirewall.bubba.com

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5.1 = Gauge32: 41

DONE in 0 seconds

So ... what does this mean?!?

Re: Not getting CPU utilization info for CISCO ASA 5520

Hello,

The application I am using don't use cpmCPUTotal5min (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.5) to get CPU utilization for cisco devices.

The cisco site states that cpmCPUTotal5min is deprecated by cpmCPUTotal5minRev (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.8)

It would make sense to have Customer upgrade the ASA version but I just need to confirm with Cisco Support that the

latest 5520 ASA CISCO-PROCESSOR-MIB contains this mib (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.8)

Regards,

Johnny

Not getting CPU utilization info for CISCO ASA 5520

Hello guys!

I want to create many scripts to check many things..

I have some doubts, like:

what is OID?

what is MIB?

Is the above the same thing?

How can I get the OID or MIB??

Example. I want to check vpn.. so I can use the command:

sh vpn-sessiondb

How can I use the OID or MIB to get that result?

Thanks!
