Hi,

I'm trying to sync 1605R to a internet time source using the command:

ntp server time.nist.gov

The time failed to sync. Here're some of the capture.

Then i tried the same command on a 1720. It works on the 1720 but not on a 1605R.

Any ideas why ?

Give the "sntp server" command a shot. Some 1600 and 1700 routers don't support full NTP.

Tried sntp. Didn't work. Do you have a link to the article that documents ntp support on 1600 ?

Regards.

Cross check the following

1. IOS version, you might require the plus feature set to run ntp on some versions.

2. NTP sometimes takes time to synchronise (I do not know why). Try leaving it for a considerable length of time. I once left it overnight to come back the next day to see that it has synchronised. Maybe some one else can give the reason for this.

I'm sure the IOS in use is more than plus. And have left it running for a few days. I'm about to give up.
