null 0 route

whey would we use this, would we use it if we have a default route and dont want certain traffic to use the default route

null0 is used as bit bucket... any thing point to the null0 will be discareded... so some time it is used to reduce the routing loops in network as well as you can use it as filter in your network...

like

ip route 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 null0

now here when you add this statement, then all the packet destain to 10.10.10.0 will be discarded...
