Obtain client address IP on 2950

Hi,

I've multiple Catalyst 2950 and I'd like to know if it's possible to obtain ip addres list of computers connected to the 2950

the 2950 cannot provide you with the IP addresses of PCs connected to it.

You can gather this information from the ARP table of the default gateways of the PCs.

What folks do is capture the ARP table from the router, and cross reference it with the Mac address table on the switch. I think there are even some apps that can do that for you. Talk to someone who has a lot of SNMP experience.

SolarWinds Engineers Edition Switch Port Mapper is one of the applications enable to do that.

If the 2950 is just hooked to a router and not trunked , you can ping the broadcast address of the subnet and this will give you a populated arp table , it also will show up in the adjacency table but the arp table puts it in a better format .
