On a 3500 XL Fast Ethernet port, what can cause a CRC error every 10 seconds.

I have several 3548-XLs connected to routers via Fast Ethernet. Both are configured for full duplex and 100mps manually. The cables have been changed and the duplex modes have also been changed, we still receive a CRC every 10 sec. Any suggestions? The port is configured as an ISL trunk.

This issue is due to CSCdm49462. When ISL trunking between a Cisco Router and a 2900XL or 3500XL switch the CRC counter increments about every 10 seconds. Turning off keepalives on the router side causes the counters to stop incrementing. The CRCs occur because the router sends the keepalives out unencapsulated in ISL and when the switch goes to strip off the ISL header and it considers the keepalive a CRC.
