Basically, the IP between hosts never changes (ie source and destination), but the mac address changes at each hop. So from the source host the mac will look like the local routers ethernet mac, from the local router the mac will look like the remote routers serial, and from the remote router the mac will look like the real mac (assuming host-router-router-host).
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
