What type of bridging would I use if I had one router with two interfaces and two different switches attached to two different interfaces, I have seen this used multiple times for failover but forgot what the exact type of bridging is. If anyone hasa configuraiton link or insight it would be appreciated.

Probably you would want to do Integrated Routing and Bridging for what you describe. Configure bridging on the two router interfaces. Then configure BVI (Bridged Virtual Interface) for the layer 3 processing.
