One-way ISDN problem...

Hello,

I cannot find an explaination for this ISDN message. I have 2 routers (A and B), each with a BRI interface. If I ping B's BRI interface IP address from A, A calls B and sets up B1, B calls A and sets up B2 and the ping goes across. If I ping A's BRI interface IP address from B, B calls A and sets up B1, A calls B but B2 does not setup with this message (and the ping fails):

.Mar 7 10:57:29: ISDN BR2/2: TX -> SETUP pd = 8 callref = 0x5A

.Mar 7 10:57:29: Bearer Capability i = 0x8890218F

.Mar 7 10:57:29: Channel ID i = 0x83

.Mar 7 10:57:29: Keypad Facility i = '15558809013'

.Mar 7 10:57:29: ISDN BR2/2: RX <- RELEASE_COMP pd = 8 callref = 0xDA

.Mar 7 10:57:29: Cause i = 0x8295 - Call rejected

.Mar 7 10:57:29: Signal i = 0x03 - Network congestion tone on

.Mar 7 10:57:29: ISDN BR2/2: Setup was rejected, cause = 15

here are the BRI interface setups:

Router A

interface BRI2/2

ip address 10.250.11.5 255.255.255.252

encapsulation ppp

dialer idle-timeout 300

dialer map ip 10.250.11.6 speed 56 15558809011

dialer-group 1

isdn switch-type basic-ni

isdn spid1 55525271850101

isdn spid2 55525271680101

fair-queue

Router B

interface BRI0/0

ip address 10.250.11.6 255.255.255.252

encapsulation ppp

dialer idle-timeout 300

dialer map ip 10.250.11.5 speed 56 15552527185

dialer-group 1

isdn switch-type basic-ni

isdn spid1 55588090110100

isdn spid2 55588090130200

fair-queue

Is there a possible ISDN setup problem with the local provider? Perhaps the line is not doing the rollover from the first number to the seconds? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John.

Re: One-way ISDN problem...

You got this immediately after SETUP message goes out.

Mar 7 10:57:29: Cause i = 0x8295 - Call rejected

Mar 7 10:57:29: Signal i = 0x03 - Network congestion tone on

So looks like the local BRI switch is rejecting the call because it is congested or can't roll over to other number. So talk to BRI provider. Now did B got the setup message on B2 for that call?

to solve the issue of of calling eachother when doing a ping, try adding "dialer load-threshold x either" where value for x from 1-255 and 255 will be treated as 100%.

Re: One-way ISDN problem...

No, Router B did not get any setup message from A for the B2 call. Thanks for the reply. I would think the number rollover is working for incomming, but not outgoing calls. I will call the BRI provider and ask them to check the line setup.

Thanks again.

Re: One-way ISDN problem...

Just one more point to make the config perfact. Configure the "ppp multilink" unde the BRI interfaces both the sides. This will give you 128K aggregated thruput with better performances.

Re: One-way ISDN problem...

Also, enable "ppp authentication", and add a name to the dialer maps on each end; this will prevent

the dialback that occurs, since without authentication we don't know who we are connected to.
