I'm experiencing repeated tftp requests for config files from several of the Cat 3500XL switches on the network. These are clustered with standby cluster
commanders activated.
All switches are running IOS (tm) C3500XL Software (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC3b.
The following is the the output from the TFTP server that is running on my laptop:
Connection recieved from ***.**.121.251 on port 1765
Read request for file <network-confg>. Mode octet
Error : EACCESS. CreateFile returns 2: <The system cannot find the file specified.>
That is repeated for a couple of times and then the following:
Connection recieved from ***.**.121.251 on port 3179
Read request for file <cisconet.cfg>. Mode octet
Error : EACCESS. CreateFile returns 2: <The system cannot find the file specified.>
And finally changes to this:
Connection recieved from ***.**.121.251 on port 4430
Read request for file <group48-d1-confg>. Mode octet
Error : EACCESS. CreateFile returns 2: <The system cannot find the file specified.>
Non of the switches have anything in their start configs that tell them to look to a tftp server for any of their configs. Any ideas
Regards
Mel

Try doing:
conf t
no service config
end
I sounds like you have service config on (it is the default in some versions) and the switches are trying to TFTP their configs....
