Optimal servers connection on C6500 modules

I need to connect servers over 2 type of module : WS-X6548-RJ-45 and WS-X6516-GE-TX.

I know that on certain modules we have on the hardware "group of ports" (ex: perhaps 3 groups of 16 ports or 2 group of 24 ports...).

Depending on this, I have 2 questions :

Does anybody know the "hardware segmentation" of the 2 modules above ?

Is there an impact/interest on the performance to connect 2 servers on the same group of ports (or on different groups) considering the fact that there are lots of mutual exchange bertween them?

Thanks in advance

Re: Optimal servers connection on C6500 modules

Actually, the ws-x6548 is a fabric-enabled line card. It is different that other 62xx and 63xx line cards in that the 6548 has only 1 ASIC for all 48 10/100 ports and there is no segmentation. There is 1mb of shared memory per port and it supports tx queue of 1p3q1t.

Any segmentation is design to be transparent to the population and use of the front panel ports.
