OSPF: Can I put 2 connected WAN routers under area 0?

I have the following static route configuration:

my remote router is connected to:

loopback:10.178.201.254/30

10.178.202.0/24(vlan1)

10.178.203.0/24(vlan2)

serial0:10.178.222.254/30

ISDN0:10.178.222.251/30

my central router is connected to:

loopback:192.168.1.254/30

10.178.223.0/24

serial0:10.178.222.253/30

ISDN0:10.178.222.252/30

the central router has static routes to many 10.178.0.0 subnets.

I intend to use OSPF, can I put the 2 routers under area 0 for network 10.0.0.0 on both side? Should I leave the BRI interface as static, or put the ip ospf demand circuit command onto it and run OSPF as well?

Thank you.

Yes, you can place both serials into area 0.

Ospf demand circuit is much more flexible then static routes but I know a lot of people that use statics with a higher admin distance to pick up the backup. Each have thier strengths.

Hope this helps,
