OSPF - Cisco 3550

Hi.

I have a Cisco 3550 SMI.

My IOS version is 12.1(22)EA4 and the image is c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-22.EA4.bin

Considering that it is a Layer 3 switch, I have tried to use the router ospf 10 command and appears a message saying "unknown routing protocol".

What I have to do to fix this problem?

Thanks

You have SMI image..You need EMI image for OSPF. Download "c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-22.EA7.bin"

Re: OSPF - Cisco 3550

Hi Rodnei,

Check out some major difference between SMI and EMI Images

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration_example09186a0080169623.shtml

Also as Prashant updated you have an SMI image. If you check your image it has c3550-i9q3l2...it has 9 in its secind part which denotes it is an SMI image and if it is like c3550-i5q3l2 where the secoind part has 5 insted of 9 it means it is an EMI image.

You EMI image will support

Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP) and Enhanced IGRP (EIGRP)

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol

Border Gateway Protocol Version 4 (BGP4)

Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)

Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM)

Other advanced services
