OSPF redistributed static route (E1 vs. E2)?

Do OSPF E1 type routes (which are statically redistributed into the process) take priority E2 type routes even though the metric for which the E2 route is learned is better (less than) the metric for the E1 type route.

Example below displayed on Core router A:

When remote router B (which is seen via a LAN) knows the static by a type 1:

O E1 156.88.12.0/24

[110/2644] via 192.168.10.10, 00:00:16, FastEthernet2/0.15

When remote router A (which is WAN attached) knows the static by a type 2, after the type 1 is removed from remote router B:

O E2 156.88.12.0/24 [110/20] via 192.168.99.122, 00:00:17, ATM4/0.485

The E1 route will always be preferred. See the following URL for an explanation -
