OSPF RID by Hostname:

hello,

Is there any ways to represent a RID by its hostname without using DNS resolution in a OSPF network. Any commands to configure ?

Thanks

Re: OSPF RID by Hostname:

Dinesh,

In short, No. The router-id command, within the ospf process, will allow you to configure specific IP addresses to be your RID. This is in the following format "A.B.C.D OSPF router-id in IP address format". No host names without some type of resolution mechanism (e.g. DNS, etc) can be mapped to this RID IP address.

Hope this helps,

Don
