Hi
I am having a problem with Out Of Band on a Cisco 837 router using the Async and Virtual Aux running IOS 12.3(4)T2.
I have experimented with several configs however after extensive testing our work around is to remove AAA Authentication and reload the router without this. When AAA Authentication is present I am unable to dial in and establish a PPP session and receive Windows error 721. debug ppp neg and debug ppp auth provide absolutely no information when the dial in process is happening.
The AAA Authentication line is standard:
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
With AAA Authentication, Authentication works fine when logging into the router in band.
I have also experimented with "aaa authentication ppp" to authenticate the Out Of Band dial in attempts however this also results in a 721 error on the Windows Client.
Async Interface config:
interface Async1
ip address 192.168.99.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
async default routing
async mode dedicated
peer default ip address 192.168.99.2
ppp max-bad-auth 3
ppp authentication pap
Line Con0 config:
line con 0
exec-timeout 120 0
modem enable
transport preferred all
transport output all
stopbits 1
Line Aux0 config:
line aux 0
exec-timeout 0 0
modem Dialin
modem autoconfigure type blaster_v1
transport preferred all
transport input all
transport output all
stopbits 1
speed 115200
flowcontrol hardware
Modem string:
modemcap entry blaster_v1:MSC=&F&C1&D2S0=1H0&W
Today, I have tried this with same config on IOS 12.3(7) and it kills ADSL connectivity when I dial in.
Could anyone suggest what could be causing these problems?
Many thanks
Max...

Hi
While further testing this I attempted to dial in and at the same time issued the "modem dialin" command under lin aux 0. Immediately the DTR set to 1 and DSR came up. If I hadn't have issued the "modem dialin" command (which was already present in the config), then PPP would not have completed. Does anyone have any ideas?
