Output of SH INTERFACES ATM

Hello colleagues,

when I do a sh interfaces atm0/0, I get the following output; in the second line, it says BW 256 Kbit and DLY 8000 usec.

Does anybody know where these values are pulled from ? This is an ADSL connection, so maybe these values are pulled from the Service Provider ?

I have not configured any bandwidth statements in my config; could it be that these are default values ?

ATM0/0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is DSLSAR (with Alcatel ADSL Module)

MTU 4470 bytes, sub MTU 4470, BW 256 Kbit, DLY 8000 usec,

Encapsulation ATM, loopback not set

Encapsulation(s): AAL5 AAL2, PVC mode

23 maximum active VCs, 256 VCs per VP, 1 current VCCs

VC idle disconnect time: 300 seconds

Last input never, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 149

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue :0/40 (size/max)

5 minute input rate 78000 bits/sec, 80 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 70000 bits/sec, 98 packets/sec

734284 packets input, 149320198 bytes, 0 no buffer

Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

851590 packets output, 78919806 bytes, 0 underruns

Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Output of SH INTERFACES ATM

Georg,

The BW can either be specified with a "bandwidth" command on the interface or be pulled from the VC's that are terminated on this interface. "show atm vc" will show you the VC's and the values assigned to them. "show atm vc " will show you more details of your specific VC.

These values can be assigned locally or determined through CAC (call admission control) to your ISP...

Hope this helps you,

Don
