I used the command "username abc secret 0 xyz" and now after logging into the router and trying to run "enable" will ask for a password. The password that I assigned does not work. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.
The password that you configured here (using the secret parameter) is the password for user mode. The fact that it has "secret" in the command means that the password will be encrypted but does not mean that it is the equivalent of the enable secret. To get into enable mode you will need to enter the password that was configured as the enable secret (or as the enable password if no enable secret was configured).
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
