Performance issue with Catalyst 3500

I'm running a lab with 20 MS 2K workstations running over a 24 port Catalyst 3500. I have a standard Ghost image I use in this lab that is about 2 Gig's. When I try to push out the image the workstations it takes about 45 min, witch seemed real slow for a 100 Mbs connection. I happen to have a 10/100 SMC 24 port switch on the same rack so I just moved the cables over to the SMC and when I tried to push out the Ghost image it only takes about 20 min.

It looks like the 3500 is running the default configuration. I'm running the 12.0 IOS would updating the IOS help or hurt this issue?

Thanks for any feedback

Re: Performance issue with Catalyst 3500

Ghost Imaging uses Multicast. So to effectively use this, you may need to configure CGMP on the router on this vlan so only the ports which needs the image gets it and not flooded through all the ports. CGMP should also be enabled on the switch.
