performance of 2501 with 2 T1s to the Internet?

we are upgrading from one T1 over a frame relay to 2 full T1s (they call it Multi T1 Access). I have a spare 2501. I've been advised that it would be 'better' to purchase a 2610, suggesting that " you would have better performance".

is this a legitimate concern?

The 2600 series is certainly a more powerful platform than the 2500 but, whether you will actually see an improvment in performance would depend on whether the 2500 would be a bottle neck.

Checking the CPU and the buffer/memory usage when the router is in use will give you an indication.

A limitation of the 2500 series is that they can only have a maximum 2 Meg of I/O memory which may not be enough if the traffic is heavy.
