I'd like to know if there is an IOS command through which I can obtain the physical distribution of memory dimms, I mean, I do not want to open the chassis, I just wanna know how many dimms of xx bytes are there inside the router...thanks

If you are talking about the flash memory, you can try the ' show flash: all ' command. If it is DRAM, I guess it might depend on the platform. This doc talks about the procedure for 3600 series.
