PoE and Nortel i2004 IP phone

A Nortel i2004 IP phone could get power from 3550 Cisco pre-standard PoE switch using splitter PD-PS-401/RA-NRTL. It doesn't work with 802.3af-compliant PoE module WS-X4248-RJ45V on a 4510 switch even I set PoE to static operation mode on switch port.

Someone suggested "Universal splitter (PDPS800)" this was the one

that was needed for Phase I phones(such as i2004) to work with other 802.3AF compliant devices such as Cisco PoE switch.

Does anyone have such experience? Thanks in advance.

As you have found, Nortel i2004 IP Phones come in 2 flavors- Phase I and Phase II. Phase II is IEEE 802.3af compliant. Ciso PoE switches can provide inline power to only Nortel Phase 2 IP Phones. Nortel Phase 1 IP phones cannot be inline powered and you need external power brick.

How is it possible for the SG300-10MP to power the Phase 1 phones with the PD-PS-401/RA-NRTL power splitter on them?

I'm posting regarding troubleshooting getting a Nortel i2002 phone with a PD-PS-401/RA-NRTL splitter on them to work with a 2960-S POE switch to work. The phone does not power on currently with the 2960 POE but it powers on when plugged in to the SG300-10MP.
