POE on the CE500 switches

I have just attempted to use a splitter to power a non 802.3af compliant Wireless Access Point from a POE port on a CE500 switch - the splitter indicates no power and the AP does not power up. It appears that the splitter only accepts power on ethernet pairs 4+5 and 7+8 - does any one know if the CE500 switches only do POE over the data pairs (1+2 and 3+6) or have I got a non-802.3af compliant splitter?

Hi

As per the data sheets available CE500 are Cisco IEEE 802.3af compliant devices and supports both prestandard and IEE 802.3af detection mechanisms..

Prestandard is the mechanism being used by Cisco which uses AC power for the detection and the IEE 802.3af uses DC powered detection.

And again it does used 1+2 and 3+6 for the same..

Thanks for the reply! I had seen both of these pages in my searches. It appears that most "802.3af" splitters (that I have found) do not support the pairs 1+2 and 3+6 pairs for POE - they focus on the unused pairs for POE detection, negotiation and delivery.

Has anyone used/know of a POE splitter that works specificly with the CE500 switches?
