Point to point sub-interfaces on Frame Relay

This is the scenario: Two routers A and B configured with point to point sub-interfaces via frame-relay. My question is the following: If the PVC or interface on router A goes down, will router B sub-interface line goes down as well? or it will remain up? I'm trying to provide an ISDN backup and I'm trying to setermine which method to use. Thanks

Re: Point to point sub-interfaces on Frame Relay

Frame Relay End-to-End Keepalives might do what you need here.

See the following for IOS requirements and details of this feature.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120t/120t5/frkeep.htm

There are also LMI Extensions that have been developed to show PVC issues.

Regardless of which you prefer you can do a dialer-watch list and look for the presence or absense of a route to bring up your ISDN backup as well rather than just look for the sub-interface to go down.

Hope this helps,

Don
