Point-to-point subinterface over leased line

Hi,

I have a 64k leased line between two sites. Can i have a configuration

like this

interface serial0

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

interface serial0.1

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

interface serial 0.2

ip address 10.10.20.1 255.255.255.0

Similiar configuration at the other side.

The requirement is to create two virtual pipes and rate-limit the traffic on each

of these pipes.

Is the above configuration possible?

Thanks

Re: Point-to-point subinterface over leased line

Hi,

What you are trying to do requires multilink ppp. I have done a little of it with VoIP about a year ago. But I don't know if your link is too slow ( I was working with 512 KB).

This might help.

Good Luck

It can also be done with Frame Relay encapsulation, and

(for something slightly more exotic) ATM-DXI encapsulation.

It cannot be done with standard HDLC encapsulation.

Note that you can use Frame Relay encapsulation without

being connected to a Frame Relay switch. You need to

either configure the router at one end for FR switching,

or turn off keepalive (which will turn off LMI).
