Policing/CAR

Here is a simple configuration.

interface serial 0/0

rate-limit input 256000 4000 96000

conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

Obviously based on the above infor: We know

CIR :256000bits/s

Bc:4000bytes

Be:96000bytes

My quesion is Bc 4000bytes, does that mean serial0/0 can send 4000bytes/s or 4000bytes/per interval, in CAR is Tc still=Bc/CIR? and what does Be mean here, same as the concept in shaping(I understand shaping very well). Thanks

Re: Policing/CAR

I think they are the same with policing as well with Be indicating the burst size that can be sent at one time at line speed.
