policing on 6500

Has anyone done any large scale policing on a 6500. I need to police up to 200 VLANs with separate data rates. There does not seem to be enough TCAM on the 6500 to do this.

I am applying about 800 lines worth of access list to each policy in three different classes with a catchall at the end.

It does not seem to be that the 6500 is built to do this.

Re: policing on 6500

6500s uses two different merge algoritms for TCAM storage - Order Independent Merge & Order Dependent Merge. There is a white paper which compare and contrasts these two methods. You can try configuring 6500 for a different algorithm.

Re: policing on 6500

We have sup7203BXLs. I believe OID is the only merge supported.
