Hi All,
I have a 1.5 meg adsl terminating onto a 827 cisco router.
on the ethernet i want to rate--limit a ip if possible to "x" amount of bandwidht or if thats not possible then i want to have a policy setup in such a way that the precencedence of packets comin in from that ip is given the less weightage.

Hi Venu,
You can do either of them with 827.
827 supports CBWFQ(Class based Weighted Fair Queueing). This is the most flexible way to confiure granular policy with differntial treatment to selected applications.
Second method is if you want to rate limit the all IP traffic then you can use ratelimit in interface configuration mode (CAR) and give the desired rate as ceiling.
