Here is the problem I'm trying to solve. Occasionally we are running into a problem where a fiber goes marginal , still passing data but severely degrades the performance . We are trying to figure out a way to alert us to this fact . We have a mixture of newer 6509 with sup720's at the core layer and older 5500's and 6500's at the dist. layer running hybrid . The only way I have been able to determine so far is on the native boxes we could maybe use rmon alarming to get this info to pass up to the nms and alert to the fact that the link is in trouble. For the catos side I haven't been able to find anything that's equivalent to the rmon alarm feature on the IOS boxes . Anyone have an idea of what could be used in this case or is there no answer other than to wait for users to call in and say their response time is terrible. Any input appreciated. thanks and have a good holiday...

5500's are 5.5.20 . The hybrid 6500's are at 7.4.3 and the native IOS 720's are at 12.2.18SXD4 .
