Has anyone else had problems spanning a port using a NAI GigE sniffer. When the parameters of negotiation set to disabled, the port span status will cycle active and inactive during a capture. Show counters indicates that the port is transitioning connected/notconnected. Using CAT OS of 6.3. When using the NAI RMON GigE card, the problem does not exist. I realize that this may solely be a NAI problem but I was wondering if someone else has experienced it. I am in the process of evaluating the NAI gear.
If the port is set ot negotiate enabled, the port will not connect and the span will state inactive. Set the port to negotiate disabled and the port will go to monitor, and the span will cycle active/inactive.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
