Power over ethernet on CatX UTP

Hi all,

Is PoE dependent on the Cat type of UTP? i.e. can Cat5 support PoE or at least Cat5e?

Thanks

Re: Power over ethernet on CatX UTP

Hi,

PoE will work just fine oer standard Cat5 cabling - that is one of the attractions of PoE. You don't need a forklift upgrade of your cabling to support PoE.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
