power supply issue

we are having 6509 e switch. There is dual power supply of different wattage. When switch boots lower wattage power supply has become active and higher wattage power supply has been disabled. So why this is happening?

Swap the location of the two

Swap the location of the two PS.

You really need to use similar wattage otherwise there's no power redundancy.

Thanks for the information

Thanks for the information Leo Laohoo

I have read that its not compulsory that we have use the same wattage power supply. If we have different wattage power supply, the higher wattage power supply will become active and lower will be disabled. If in case higher wattage power supply will fail the lower power supply will become active.

But the lower power supply must be capable of handling the existing load otherwise some of the line cards will shutdown.

State the source of where you are reading this.

I, personally, and common sense tells me not to follow a publication that using different power supply wattage is a good idea.
