Power Supply questions

Hi All,

I'd like a confirmation about the use of redundant power supply on 4506 series.

The Switch I am going to order has the following modules:

-One WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 (48 wire Giga ports);

-One WS-X4515 Supervisor Engine IV;

I want a redundant power supply so I am thinking to use two 2800W ACv Power. It will provide eventually also inline power for upgrade to Ip telephony solution.

If I am going for the power module of 1000W ACv, can I use 2 of them in redundancy configurations and fill all the six slots of 4506 without upgrade the power supply in the future?

In this last hypotesis no in-line power is required.

Any help, link to the cisco documentation is appreciated.

Matteo,

Based on the current configuration you have, you require 230W out of the 1360W available on the 2800W Power Supply (1360 data, 1400 inline).

Depending on the number of phones you plan to install with inline power, the 2800 is more than sufficient. You could even go with the 1300W power supply as long as you weren't going to fully populate the switch with IP phones.

If you populate the 4506 with a SUP IV and 5 WS-X4448's, you still only come to a total of 710W of power, which a 1000W power supply would even handle (minus any IP phones).
