Prioritizing telnet traffic on Cisco 1720

Is it possible to configure QoS on 1720?

I have 256K frame circuit going through this router and I'd like to prioritize all telnet session and have telnet session utilizing 50% of total bandwidth.

Could someone show me how to configure this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello,

QoS is supported on the 1720 starting with IOS 12.0(5)T. I think you need the IP Plus feature pack though.

Try to configure the following on your 1720:

1720#conf t

1720(config)#class-map match-all TELNET

1720(config-cmap)#match ip address 101

1720(config-cmap)#exit

1720(config)#policy-map TELNETHIGH

1720(config-pmap)#class TELNET

1720(config-pmap-c)#bandwidth percentage 50

1720(config-pmap-c)#precedence 5

1720(config/pmap-c)#end

1720#conf t

1720(config)#access-list 101 permit tcp any any eq telnet

1720(config)#interface FastEthernet0/0

1720(config-int)#service-policy output TELNETHIGH

1720(config-if)#end

1720#

With this configuration, all your TELNET traffic is prioritized over all other traffic, and is guaranteed 50 percent of the bandwidth.

You can see the prioritized packets by issuing the command:

show policy-map interface FastEthernet0/0

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
