Problem booting Cisco 1601 nothing gets out to the console

Hi,

I have problems booting my router 1601, i change the config-register 0x2124 for 0x1016 to see the router boot in ROM, buth when the router starts, nothing gets out to the console, the console cable and my serial port are fine, can i delete de NVRAM (the confreg parameter) moving jumpers inside the ruter?, and is possible how do it?.

i took out the flash card and still no sign of life on the terminal, the lights on the router come on and the OK led flashes 9 times, after that, the lights stop and the leds PWD and OK are in static green.

Change your hyperterminal settings to 1200 bits per sec (default you use is 9600) and connect to the router. Your configuration register is now 0x1016

0001 0000 0001 0110

The 12th and 11th bit from right are by default 0 and 0 and hence the speed setting is 9600. Now since you set the config register to 0x1016, the 12th and 11th bits are 1 and 0 and hence the speed at which you should connect is 1200 bps.

Also the router is trying to net boot with a default Ios file name since bits 3,2,1 and 0 from right side are 0110 (6).

Once you connect via hyperterminal at 1200 bps, (with rest of settings as such ), use break key to enter rommon mode.

rommon1>confreg 0x2102

rommon1>reset

This should bring the router back to self (and before doing all these dont forget to put the flash chip in.
