problem in router ethernet

Hi

I have a 2600 Router having 2 Fastethernet interface.

One is connected to LAN, another is connected to switch which inturn is connected to Firewall.

When both these interfaces are connected to respective switches. The ping response is very slow & there is packet loss also. when i disconnect the the interface connected to Firewall the ping response is fine.

(I am pinging from LAN to the ethernet interface of the router which is on the LAN side).

I have tried it with other 2600 router problem persists. But it works fine with 3640 router.

Regards

Manu

Try to clear interface counters on FE to firewall and after some time of slow ping look at 'show interface' for the same FE.

There might be some clues in the output of that interface. Also see for 'show proc cpu hist' command and 'sh int fe2 stats' - this command will show how much packets where processor switched.
