we have 3640 router and I want to load new ios using tftp server. but the router is giving an error..
Router#copy tftp flash

no route to tftp server? (try pinging it)
tftp service not running or configured correctly?

I can ping the router from the tftp server, I tried also direct connection with the tftp server but no success either. I can copy the ios from the router to tftp server..copy flash tftp.....and also I configured the tftp server for receive/transmit mode...please advise

when you copied from router to tftp did the file appear in the same directory as your new IOS?

yes in the tfpt-root directory...I can make a backup of my currently installed ios on the router using tftp server but i cannot load new ios...

well that just about exhausts my meagre knowledge!
check IP connectivity; check tftp server setup (permissions, directory etc);
check filename correct;
seems like all these you've covered.
one thing occurs to me, wasn't there some issue about cisco tftp server not supporting file sizes larger than was it 16meg? what server you using and what is the file size? proberbly a herring rouge though - sorry!
