problem with broadcast address

We have 3640 router configured with subinterfaces to route between Vlan's. but we are experiencing slow network, I have done some troubleshooting I found that broadcast address is flooding the network. it utelizing huge bandwidth. is't normal to get a reply when sending echo request to broadcast address, for example 10.15.47.255 with 255.255.252.0 netmask. and one more thing, when i'm trying to ping the said address from 3640 router it showing all the ip addresses of connected host. thanks..

Re: problem with broadcast address

Since U r experiencing slow network,

Try finding any NIC thats gone bad. Also check the errors on ur ethernet interface. It might have gone bad.

Also use command : config-if# no ip directed-broadcast on all ur interfaces.

Yes when U ping the above address U get replies from any NIC thats present on ur network. No need to bother about that...
