Problem with microsoft network neighborhood browsing

My customer moved half their office and now have a WAN between the 2 groups. They still want to browser network neighborhood and can't put WINS servers in right away. How can I get the browser announcement traffic across the WAN link in both directions? I have enabled bridging already.

Re: Problem with microsoft network neighborhood browsing

Hello,

are you saying you don't have any WINS servers on your network yet ? You could try LMHOSTS files to start out with. If you have a WINS server at one location, you could try the ip helper-address command with the address of your WINS server to forward netbios-ns packets. Check out this document, it talks about various scenarios where Windows Networking is implemented in LAN/WAN environments:

Georg
