Problems with appletalk running on Cat 2950s

We mainly use IP but there is a small community of graphic artists who use MACs - they have IP & appletalk running. The VLAN which the MACs are on routes IP to the rest of the business but appletalk is isolated to the VLAN - it is just used to share info between macs.

Recently we moved the team onto another switch - they were previously on a Cat6006 runing CATOS - the new switch is a 2950 running 12.1(9) ios.

Since they have moved IP works fine but appletalk seems not to work. The macs are all on the same VLAN on the same switch... any ideas why the macs can't talk ?

Have you enabled Spanning tree portfast? Also make the ports access ports and try

Switch(config)#int fastEthernet 0/1

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)#spanning-tree portfast

%Warning: portfast should only be enabled on ports connected to a single

host. Connecting hubs, concentrators, switches, bridges, etc... to this

interface when portfast is enabled, can cause temporary bridging loops.

Use with CAUTION

%Portfast has been configured on FastEthernet0/1 but will only

have effect when the interface is in a non-trunking mode.

Switch(config-if)#
